Types of Hearing Tests

Hearing tests, or audiometric tests, measure your ability to hear the softest levels of sounds at individual pitches. They are painless and non-invasive, and can give you an indication of your overall hearing capabilities. At Hearing Partners, we are fully equipped with the latest technology in hearing diagnostic equipment, ensuring you receive the best care possible. Learn about the types of audiometry tests we offer below.

In-Clinic Hearing Tests

In-clinic hearing tests provide a comprehensive assessment of your hearing health in a controlled environment. Conducted by hearing care professionals, these tests utilise advanced equipment to evaluate your level of hearing and identify any areas of concern.

“At Hearing Partners, you will receive your test results on the same day.”

At Hearing Partners, our hearing test takes place in 4 parts and spans over 30 minutes.

  1. Audiologist consultation: The audiologist will ask some questions to learn more about your hearing concerns, medical history and lifestyle.
  2. Physical ear examination: The audiologist will check for earwax blockages or other irregularities.
  3. Hearing test: You will take a comprehensive audiometric test in a quiet and soundproof room, and will be evaluated on aspects such as tone, speech and eardrum.
  4. Review the results: The audiologist will review the test results with you and provide recommendations for managing your hearing health.

Start by booking an appointment with us at your preferred clinic. In the days leading up to the appointment, practice these habits and make the necessary arrangements:

  1. Avoid visiting loud places* for at least 24 hours before your appointment to prevent temporary hearing loss.
  2. If you have a severe buildup of earwax, visit an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) clinic or a General Practitioner (GP) for earwax removal.
  3. Ask a family member to accompany you for the hearing test.
  4. Bring your identification card (IC) or passport for the appointment.

*Loud places are areas where you need to raise your voice to communicate with someone standing 1m away.

Online Hearing Tests

Our online hearing test serves as a general gauge of your hearing health. It only requires 5 minutes to complete and is best done in a quiet room with headphones. You will receive the test results immediately upon completion of the hearing test.

At Hearing Partners, our hearing test takes place in 4 parts and spans over 30 minutes.

  1. Self-evaluation questions: You will be asked some questions regarding your hearing ability.
  2. Tone test: You will be presented with some sounds at different frequencies and asked if you can hear them.
  3. Listening scenarios: You will be presented with some real-life scenarios before being asked questions about those scenarios.

Following the test, you will be provided with a general evaluation of your hearing health and a recommended course of action.

To ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the online hearing test, we recommend ensuring the following:

Prepare a computer/smartphone
Prepare earphones/headphones and set the volume of the device to 50%
Take the hearing test in a quiet room without any background noise
